Quantitative analyst

Quantitative analyst (quant) is a person, specializing in mathematical calculations. He does business by selling strategies (including sports betting), based on computer models rather than on the advice of market experts.

The first quants were Wall Street traders. Quants in the betting industry are punters who prefer to bet, using statistical data and models, rather than listening to sports analysts. The majority of such punters keep their methods and algorithms for computing as a dark secret.

Quants are also those punters that create automated programs and computer algorithms to trade at exchanges. One of the most famous quants is an American punter Haralabos “Bob” Voulgaris, who is famous for his precise bets on National Basketball Association.
