In comparison with Sunday’s other Premier League match, this one between Burnley and Manchester United looks rather lame.

Burnley may only be eight points clear of the drop-zone with 15 points still to play for, however, they should be safe for next season after an excellent campaign. They might’ve won just one match in all competitions since the end of January but the teams below Burnley are seemingly not good enough to catch them.

A solid defence has been the backbone to the Clarets’ great season with only Middlesbrough having a better Goals Against record than them in the bottom half of the table. Additionally, after having a bit of a lapse at the back in the first part of 2017, Burnley have now kept two clean sheets in their last three matches. Unfortunately though, they have been poor in the final third which has caused them to struggle to take all three points from matches. Their top scorer is Andre Gray with eight but he has not found the back of the net in six games.

Sean Dyche has made sure his team are tough to beat at home and, their points haul of 32 from 16 matches is even better than both of the Manchester clubs. This great form at Turf Moor is showing no sign of letting up with just one loss in their last eight matches, keeping five clean sheets in that time – all but one of their total shutouts at home.

Manchester United snuck past Anderlecht in their Europa League quarter final last time out. United are prioritising the Europa League as part of their ambition to make next season’s Champions League, however, that does not mean they will let up on the league, as demonstrated by the fact they have not lost a Premier League game since the end of October 2016.

Jose Mourinho’s side have been very compact at the back throughout the course of the campaign and, as well has having only let in 24 goals all season (second-best), they have kept three clean sheets in their last four matches. Unfortunately for them though, they have been pretty wasteful in the final third and, even though they won against Anderlecht on Thursday, their finishing was still rather poor. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been the main man up front for United this season but, with the Swede missing this match at Turf Moor, goals could be a struggle for United.

In terms of away form in the league, the Red Devils have been excellent in the last few weeks with three straight wins, scoring nine and conceding just one in the process. However, in terms of overall away form, they have won just two of their last five on the road. Interestingly, although United have one of the best away records in the league with 30 points, newly-promoted Burnley have taken more at home with their 32.

Burnley will certainly keep it tight in the first half and United could really struggle without Ibrahimovic. Everything points to a slow burner here and thus backing a draw at half time (6/5) catches the eye. Additionally, backing it to be 0-0 at half-time is also hard to resist at 7/4.

Furthermore, Burnley have only conceded on three occasions before half time at home this season and 50% of their half time scores at Turf More have been 0-0.
