Each of the five Great Lakes is at or near historic high water levels. Yet roughly ten years ago, which is the blink of an eye in the historic trends of Great Lakes water levels, all of the lakes were at or near record low levels.
The consequences are individual and regional. From shortening boating seasons to damaging to critical infrastructure and homes, water levels are a topic of conversation at every corner of the region. What’s going on to cause these dramatic highs and lows?
