Zhodino v Debrecen Betting Tip

The first leg of this tie saw Belarusian side Torpedo Zhodina defeat Hungarian outfit Debrecen 2-1 in an exciting encounter in Hungary.

Debrecen were fancied to get this tie off to a good start in the first leg, so the final result was a bit of a turn up for the books, especially sine the hosts were the overwhelming 2/5 favourites. Having taken the lead inside just two minutes, the Hungarians couldn’t have made a better start to the match and looked as though they were on course for a routine victory. However, despite being almost discounted by the bookmakers, Zhodino – a team who finished 7th in last year’s Belarusian Premier League – showed that they’re capable of cutting it at this level and fought back to claim a very valuable away victory.

As we approach the second leg, Debrecen are still regarded as favourites, although not quite as warm this time at even money, and they should have enough about them to, at the very least, make a good fist of turning this one around.

From a betting point of view, ‘Over 2.5 Goals & BTTS’ looks very appealing, an outcome that we saw in the first leg. It’s fair to say that Debrecen are the better team and they should have the quality to seriously threaten. Whilst the fact that they have to attack is obviously a plus. But, while this does indeed boost the chances of goals for the visitors, it also boosts the chances of successful counter-attacks from the hosts – something that paid dividends last week.

The stats seem to support this too. Their has been at least three goals in all of Zhodino’s last five matches, while they’ve encountered a ‘BTTS’ outcome in four of their last five home games. The Belarusian’s have also scored in nine of their last ten games. Debrecen have scored in nine of their last ten games as well, and have been involved in an ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ outcome in seven of their last ten fixtures – seven of which saw both teams find the net.

In a game where it’s perhaps a little tricky to call the victor, everything appears to point towards goals. And, at odds of 13/10, ‘Over 2.5 Goals & BTTS‘ is certainly a bet worth placing.
