Bookmaker Ratings prediction one: Full-Time Result – West Ham to win – 1.67

Bookmaker Ratings prediction two: Anytime Goalscorer – Jarrod Bowen – 2.7

Bookmaker Ratings prediction three: Match to be a draw after 30 minutes – 1.7

West Ham to win

West Ham have a decent home record and although Newcastle is unbeaten in five matches, four of these have been played at home. Newcastle have won one away match all season and will miss Kieran Trippier due to injury.

Jarrod Bowen to score anytime

Jarrod Bowen has scored five goals in his last five Premier League matches including three first goals. He is on imperious form and despite Newcastle tightening up defensively lately, he will have the quality to break through if given the chance.

Draw after 30 minutes

Although West Ham scored early last match, they do tend to leave their scoring until the second half of matches usually. At home they’ve scored eight first half goals compared to 15 second half goals.

Break this down even further and the Hammers have scored only four goals at home within the first 30 minutes. Away from home in the same period, Newcastle have scored just two goals. The match to be a draw after 30 minutes can be backed at 1.7.

Preliminary review and match prediction for West Ham United vs Newcastle United

West Ham took an early lead last Sunday against Leicester before the Foxes scored a goal either side of half-time to take a 2-1 lead. In the end Craig Dawson’ 91st minute goal rescued a point for the Hammers.

In the meantime, Manchester United leapfrogged West Ham into fourth spot with a 2-0 win over Brighton on Tuesday night leaving the Hammers rueing their inability to close the game out.

Although Newcastle have been on a resurgence the Hammers should see this as an opportunity to get back to winning ways. Nothing but three points will do as they try to fend off the chasing pack.

Newcastle will come into this match full of confidence after going five unbeaten including victories in their last three matches to put a four-point gap between themselves and 18th placed Norwich City.

This game could be a tight one as Newcastle have shored things up at the back after the additions of Dan Burn, Matt Targett and Trippier.

However, Trippier will be missing for at least six weeks after suffering a fractured foot. After scoring two free kicks in two matches, he will be a massive miss for the Toon Army. How much so remains to be seen.

Get Rich Quick

West Ham have gone in level at half-time in 11 of their 25 matches so far (Newcastle also 11 out of 23). The Hammers have also won 11 of 25 second halves this season. Draw/West Ham on the half-time/full-time market may be the way to go (odds 4.4).

West Ham United vs Newcastle United Team News

Kurt Zouma pulled out of the warm-up against Leicester, his return here is questionable. Said Benrahma and Nikola Vlasic are competing with Pablo Fornals and Manuel Lanzini for their starting places.

As mentioned earlier, Trippier is out. Ready made replacement, Javier Manquillo also came off injured against Aston Villa and is doubtful. Emil Krafth or Jacob Murphy could start at right-back. Matt Targett should come back into the team after being ineligible to play against his parent club, Aston Villa.

Possible Starting Lineups

West Ham United: Fabianski, Coufal, Dawson, Zouma, Cresswell, Soucek, Rice, Bowen, Lanzini, Benrahma, Antonio

Newcastle United: Dubravka, Krafth, Schar, Burn, Targett, Willock, Shelvey, Joelinton, Fraser, Wood, Saint-Maximin

Highlighted Player – Jonjo Shelvey

Jonjo Shelvey told the press this week that he is aware his days could be numbered as the rebuild of the Newcastle squad takes place in the next few months or years, but he is motivated to play his part for however long he is wanted.

Shelvey has been part of a midfield including Joelinton and Joe Willock which has contributed to three wins in a row, keeping Bruno Guimaraes on the bench. With Trippier out, Shelvey has been a threat from free kicks in the past and could be again.
