Two teams who have had pretty poor starts to their league campaigns go head-to-head in this Checkatrade Fixture.

Walsall lost out in the playoffs last season and will have been hoping to go one step further this time, however, they have not won since the opening day of the season and managed to surrender a three goal lead to draw 3-0 against Bury on Saturday.

Jon Whitney will be hoping that this match against lower league opposition will spark his team into life before they start having to play serious catch up with the top six in League One.

Newly-promoted Grimsby Town beat table toppers Morecambe in their opening match back in League Two but subsequently lost the next three league games before recording an impressive win over Stevenage.

With Football League survival an absolute essential for Paul Hurst’s men this season, it will be interesting to see what side the manager puts out to take on better quality opposition.

The home side have the better squad on paper and will want to use this fixture as a catalyst to move forward after a recent run of poor results and I am not sure Grimsby will be able to handle that.

A Saddlers win looks nicely priced Evens and is well worth a go. I would also back Simeon Jackson to score anytime. The Canadian has been in decent form since moving to the West Midlands this summer and I fancy his chances of finding the back of the net on Tuesday night at 7/5.
