AS Trenčín v Legia Warsaw Betting Tip

This match sees two sides who have had a poor start in defending their title domestically go head-to-head for a place in the next round of Champions League qualifiers. The bookies cannot seem to predict a winner and it could be a close game.

AS Trenčín had never won a Slovak Super Liga title until the 2014/15 season but proved that it was no fluke as they retained their title in the 2015/16 campaign. However, this season has not started well and the club find themselves 6th after two matches.

In this season’s Champions League they have already set a club record with Trenčín having never reached the third qualifying round of Europe’s premier competition before.

Polish champions Legia Warsaw are under new management this season with Besnik Hasi taking the reins after Stanislav Cherchesov’s departure. Unfortunately the defence of their title has started badly as they find themselves 11th after two matches and are yet to win a game.

Legia have been regulars in the Europa League group stage in recent years but will be looking to progress and relive the old days such as when they reached the semi-final of the European Cup in 1970 and the quarter-finals of the Champions League in 1995/96.

Both of these sides are fairly evenly matched and the bookies have not really decided on a favourite. I echo the bookies’ feelings here and am struggling to pick a winner as any bet on a straight winner would be too much of a shot in the dark. With this in mind I have decided to look at the goal markets and gone with two decent value bets.

Firstly I think there will be over 2.5 goals. Trenčín have 4 goals for and 2 goals against in their domestic campaign so far and will be looking to attack whilst at home. A 2-1 win for the Slovaks would see a return on this at 5/4.

Secondly for there to be a goal in both halves at Evens is also a sound bet. As previously mentioned, this game should have goals in it.
