Terek Grozny – Rostov. Thomas Giles prediction
Rostov go into this game knowing they must win and hope CSKA drop points at Rubin to bring the title
to the Olimp-2. Their head-to-head record against Slutsky’s CSKA side would see them pip the Moscow side to the championship.
Both Terek and Rostov have a reputation of being two of the most conservative sides in the division as they look to shore things up at the back before looking forward so we can expect a similar approach here.
Terek looked to be on course to seal Europa League qualification for next season until a stumble in results saw them drop off the pace. Now they are simply hoping to move up to sixth and overtake Lokomotiv Moscow which they would do with a win against Rostov and other results go their way thanks to their head-to-head record against the Railroaders.
Despite the fact they need to win, I cannot see Berdyev’s Rostov side changing tactics. Their solid foundations have been the reason why they have done so amazingly well this season and they will believe this method will once again bring them 3 points.
As previously mentioned, both of these sides are incredibly conservative so, while I expect Rostov to win the match, I think there will be under 2.5 goals. This covers you for a likely 1-0, 2-0 Rostov victory.
