These two League One sides have very different battles going on at the moment with home side Swindon Town simply looking to survive whilst Millwall are chasing the play-offs.

Swindon are having a torrid time at the moment and have lost their last four matches on the bounce, putting them down in 22nd, seven points off survival and with a game out of hand.

The Robins have been pretty poor in both boxes over the course of the season with just 40 scored and 59 conceded in their 39 games. However, they have had their goal-scoring boots on in more recent times having found the back of the net six times in their last three matches and only failing to register on the score sheet once in their last six games. Unfortunately though, their leaky defence, which has kept just one clean sheet since 2nd January 2017.

Luke Williams’ side have been hopeless at home this campaign and have the second-worst home record in the division with just 22 points taken from 19 matches. Although they beat Gillingham at the County Ground a few weeks back, that poor record does not look like improving any time soon with two losses in their last two on home soil.

Millwall’s defeat to Tottenham in the FA Cup put a dramatic end to their winning run in all competitions and since then they have only managed draws against Bury and Rochdale. However, they are still trundling along quite nicely and are only outside the play-offs on goal difference with a game in hand over 6th place Southend United. This is all thanks to a run which has seen them unbeaten in the league since 17th December 2016 – 16 games.

Neil Harris’s men have prided themselves on their fantastic defence in recent times and they have kept ten clean sheets in those aforementioned 16 league matches. However, they are more than capable in the final third and score three goals in their last match away at Rochdale. Unfortunately for them though, their usually reliable defence let them down by conceding three.

The Lions have not been fantastic on their travels overall this season with just 21 points taken from 17 matches away from The Den. They may be unbeaten in their last six games on the road, with three clean sheets kept, but it is worth noting they have only tasted victory in one of those matches.

Although Millwall have not been great away from home, they are on a good run overall at the moment and I expect them to put this confidence-lacking Swindon side to the sword.
