On the face of it, this may seem like a great game for ‘Both Teams to Score – YES’ bet, but if we dig a little deeper, it may pay to take the opposing view. For start, Dortmund haven’t been in great scoring form and they certainly don’t come here with their tails up. What’s more, they’ve scored more than once in none of their last three on the road, keeping a clean sheet in two of those three. Add in that the hosts are without their biggest goal threat and it’s easy to support ‘Both Teams to Score – NO’ at an appealing price.

Similarly, going down the low-scoring route in terms of match goals seems viable too. Again, the fact that Sasa Kalajdzic is out dramatically decreases the attacking threat of the hosts, while Dortmund are starting to make a habit of being involved in less than high-scoring fixtures on the road, with each of their last three travelling fixtures containing no more than two goals. With money back if exactly three goals are scored, a low-scoring game is favoured in the betting.

Though they didn’t win, drawing 1-1 away at Bielefeld, Stuttgart continued to move in the right direction. It’s now four matches since Friday’s hosts tasted defeat, a run that has helped them to climb out of the dreaded drop-zone, and although their future is far from secure, things are starting to look far more positive than they were just a month ago.

There’s been a turnaround of fortunes at home for Pellegrino Matarazzo’s men, who’ve won each of their last two at Mercedes-Benz Arena. They’re also unbeaten in three at home, scoring seven goals in the process. Defensively, they’re far from secure, though, which is a bit of worry, especially since their main goal threat (Sasa Kalajdzic) is expected to miss this one with injury.

Unlike the hosts, the Borussia Dortmund boys arrive here somewhat out of sorts following what was a rather embarrassing home defeat to RB Leipzig, who scored no fewer than four times en route to winning at Signal Iduna Park last weekend. Friday’s visitors are now without a win in two fixtures.

It’s strange to say given the vast array of attacking talent in their ranks, but the visitors have been struggling for goals of late. They’ve not scored more than once in any of their last five league matches. Away from home, they’ve gone three games on the spin without scoring multiple goals, which again is slightly uncharacteristic of one of the best attacking teams in the division.

Both teams have a few absentees at present. Sasa Kalajdzic, Silas Katompa, Philipp Forster and Danial Didavi are all out for the hosts, while the visitors are expected to be without the services of Thomas Meunier, Felix Passlack, Marcel Schmelzer, and Nico Schulz.
