Sporting Gijon – Rayo Vallecano. Alexander Vishnevskiy’s prediction
Both teams are in the same situation: recently they were in the relegation zone with an awful losing streak. Sporting Gijon had five defeats in five games in December-January. Rayo Vallecano had nine games without winning – just three draws and six defeats – in November-January. But then both two sides leveled the ship and left the bottom of the table. Sporting hammered Real Sociedad 5:1, won at Mestalla and stole a point from Deportivo La Coruna. Rayo Vallecano won their last two home games (3:0 against Celta Vigo, 2:0 against Las Palmas) and got two away draws (2:2 against Valencia and 2:2 against Deportivo La Coruna).
Both teams now play solid after some changes in tactics. Both are forcible in attacking. And both can relax a little because their poor winless streak is over. So I would back on goals here. Six last games between these teams ended with three or four scored goals. And nine of ten of the last games between these two teams got total match goals over 2.5.
