Silkeborg v Brøndby Betting Tip

This match sees newly promoted Silkeborg take on Brøndby, the side who finished fourth in last season’s Superliga.

In relation to their respective standings, both sides made rather pleasing starts to the new campaign last weekend. Brøndby handed out a 4-0 thrashing to Esbjerg, while Silkeborg drew 0-0 away at Odense. Of course a 0-0 isn’t the most exciting of results, but it is still a decent one for a newly promoted team, especially away from home. Both of these performances should have left each side feeling confident going forward, although perhaps one more than the other.

In terms of splitting the pair, it’s no secret that Brøndby are the bigger club and in fairness they look the most likely winner too. At odds of 5/4 they wouldn’t be a bad bet to take three points from this one, however, backing them to score more than one goal at the same price seems the better option.

The team from Brøndbyvester are no strangers when it comes to scoring goals on the road and coming off the back of a 4-0 win last weekend they should be absolutely full of confidence. During last season Drengene Fra Vestegnen (the boys from the western outskirts) topped the league chart, by some way, for average away goals scored (1.81). Against a side, who although did well in their opening game did look a little shaky, they can continue where they left off last season and pick up a few goals on the road. The fact that Brøndby have scored twice in four of the last five meetings between these two also instills confidence.

Now, in terms or defensive quality, it’s reasonably hard to gauge just how good Silkeborg are. They held the second division’s best defensive record last season, conceding 29 in 33 games, but, having said this, they’ve stepped up in quality here and despite not conceding first time up they probably would’ve have against a side with better finishing – Odense had plenty of chances, including a missed penalty. They face a decent team today and it is fancied that they might struggle keep with the pace against better opposition.
