Real Madrid – Atletico Madrid. Valeri Karpin’s prediction
This could be an exciting game, the Madrid derby and the winner takes second place in La Liga. Real Madrid have a slight advantage because they are playing at home. And the main thing is that they had a week to rest while Atletico Madrid were playing against PSV Eindhoven in Champions League on Wednesday.
But I will go for a draw here. Real Madrid are the favourites, but Atletico are impressive by their stats. They’ve got five games without defeat in Primera against Real Madrid. And it was a draw between them earlier in the season. Derby games always give extremely high motivation for the teams. That’s why I can’t name a winner here. Real Madrid can hardly break the defence of Diego Simeone’s team, and Atletico Madrid will use their counter attacks.
I think there’s value in backing both teams to score here. Real Madrid score in almost every game and Atletico also have good players to score. The defensive line of the Los Blancos are not ideal.
