Portugal v Austria: Editors’ betting tip
Portugal failed to win against Iceland, and that was not exactly what Ronaldo was dreaming about. Everybody could see that the Portuguese captain struggled to hit the levels which really lift his team, and was indeed disappointed with the final result. He’s desperate to win more trophies this year, but it’s clear that Portugal need to do better. The 2nd Euro game for Fernando Santos’ men can be different if they can convert their chances into goals and they can therefore confirm their status as Group F favourites.
Ronaldo might not have been at his best last time out, but this should only serve to increase his determination to do well in this game. Undeniably the Real Madrid man is Portugal’s biggest goal threat and it would be no surprise if he was to find the net today. The bet of Ronaldo to score and Portugal to win at 2/1 makes plenty of appeal, as the 31 year old can get over Tuesday’s disappointment by earning his side the three points here.
Austria shouldn’t be completely written off though. Portugal may win the game, but it is unlikely to be without the Austrians having a say at all. They too have something to prove after their opening day defeat and we can expect them to be up for the occasion. Both teams to score at 21/20 is a secondary bet in this one and looks worth taking.
