Despite losing their most recent match at Walsall, play-off chasing Peterborough are still only three points off where they want to be and will feel they can still make the top six come the end of the season.

As mentioned on my tip for their match against Walsall, Peterborough have had the same identity under all of their recent managers and it is no different under former player Grant McCann. The Posh have played 32, scoring 45 times but conceding 39 with just seven clean sheets.

Peterborough managed to snatch a win against Shrewsbury Town in their last game at the ABAX Stadium to end a run of four without victory. Unfortunately though, the Posh still have one of the worst-looking home records in the division with just 23 points taken from 16 matches – something that needs to improve quickly if they want to get into the top six.

Southend are currently in that precious 6th spot after a run of just one defeat in their last six league matches. However, they have not won back-to-back matches since Boxing Day.

The Shrimpers are pretty good at both ends of the pitch with 47 scored, the joint-best of the teams currently in the play-offs, and a respectable 39 conceded in 32 matches. Additionally, Southend have kept clean sheets in almost a third of all their league games this season.

Phil Brown’s men are not the best on their travels and have only taken 20 points from 15 matches away from Roots Hall. However, their latest victory away at Oxford should give them a confidence booster going into this match.

These two teams are very similar in their inconsistency and, therefore, backing a winner here probably isn’t the way to go. However, as two high-scoring teams, ‘Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score’ catches the eye.
