Osasuna v Alavés Betting Tips

Two of newly promoted sides go head-to-head in La Liga on Saturday evening as Osasuna play host to Alavés at El Sadar.

Anyone who enters La Liga from the Segunda División faces a tough task to stay up and simply remaining in the league will be the primary goal for both of these clubs. With this in mind, this is a big match for both teams as taking points off of potential relegation rivals can be crucial when it comes to staying up.

As they sit on seven and ten points respectively, there doesn’t look to be too much separating this pair and, in 19th (Osasuna) and 15th (Alavés), both are pretty much where you’d expect them to be. However, these lowly positions probably don’t tell the full story as both teams have performed with credit at times, especially in forward areas. The problem for both, although so far this has applied more to Osasuna, is in the defensive third. A good defence is probably the key for any newly promoted side to do well at the highest level and, from what we’ve seen so far, both could be lacking in this area, although this leads nicely into the betting angle ahead of this one.

There are two bets worth going for here and these are ‘Both Teams to Score’ and ‘Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score’.

As touched on above, neither of these two look particularly great at the back, but both are capable of causing the other problems when going forward. In their last five games, Osasuna have scored eight and have conceded ten. Both teams have scored in each of those five too, while more than two goals were scored in four of them. As for the visitors, Alavés, in their last five, have scored six and have conceded 11. Both teams scored in four of those five, while three or more goals were scored in four of them.

Additionally, in their five matches on the road this season, Alavés have conceded at least once in all five, scoring in four of them. Four of these saw more than three goals hit the net, while both teams scored in four also. As for the hosts, when playing at home this campaign, Osasuna have conceded on four occasions and have scored on three. On top of this, more than three goals were scored in three (the last three) of Osasuna’s five at home, while both teams scored in these three too.

Another encouraging pointer ahead of this one is that fact that both will almost definitely see this as a winnable game and therefore we should see both an open and attacking encounter. Taking points from potential relegation rivals is a big deal and thus this should be a match that sees two teams really going for it.

Calling a winner here would be a tough task, but, regardless of the final result, plenty of goals are fancied in this one.
