Both sides have struggled of late although neither sides’ fixture list has been particularly kind either. Although Norwich City is rooted at the bottom of the table, since Norwich defeated Brentford 2-1 in the reverse fixture in November, both teams have only claimed a further 12 points each with Norwich having played one game less since.

Preliminary review and match prediction for Norwich City vs Brentford

Norwich’s first win of the season came against Brentford away from home on 6 November 2021. This marked the last game in charge for former boss, Daniel Farke, as Dean Smith was installed as head coach.

Since that time, it could be argued that despite spending much of the season in and around the relegation zone, Norwich looks to be the better team of the two.

Since that win for Norwich, both sides have picked up 12 points, however, Norwich have done this in 15 games – one less game played than Brentford – proving the above statement could be true. However, with Christian Eriksen making his debut for Brentford against Newcastle United last Saturday, there is plenty of room for optimism for the Bees.

Brentford are on a league long eight game winless streak currently with seven of those games being defeats. The Bees are in freefall now with just three points separating them from 18th placed Burnley while having played more games than every side below them.

Defeat looked inevitable against Newcastle from the 11th minute thanks to the early sending off of Josh Dasilva, with the only positive being Eriksen’s 52nd minute introduction. Though not even he was able to marshal a comeback with ten men.

It remains to be seen whether he is fit enough yet to claim a starting berth but either way, he will be crucial to Brentford’s survival plans. Eriksen to assist a goal is priced at 3.75.

Christoph Zimmermann returned to action for Norwich in the midweek FA Cup tie against Liverpool after being absent since August. Goalkeeper, Tim Krul also returned after six weeks out. Both will be a welcome boost as Norwich looks to stave off relegation.

Josh Dasilva will be missing for Brentford due to suspension after his red card against Newcastle. Ivan Toney looks set to come back into the starting line-up. There will be massive temptation to start Eriksen, but after so long out of football he will need to be eased in gently to pick up match fitness.
