Having hit the front in Ligue 1, Monaco look to continue their march towards the title as they travel to take on Montpellier at Stade de la Mosson on Tuesday evening.

It’s no secret just how good Monaco have been this season, and although some people might say they’re playing in a league that can be easily dominated, their exploits (particularly going forward) remain especially noteworthy.

As the side who’ve scored by far the most goals, Monaco face a Montpellier team who’ve conceded the second highest in Ligue 1, so goals could once again be on the cards when Les Monégasques take to the pitch. The bet to go for here is ‘Monaco to Win & Over 2.5 Goals’.

Make no mistake about it, when Monaco have turned it on this season they’ve looked as good as anyone in the forward areas and have scored the goals to support such a claim. Having found the net a total of 68 times in the league, ASM are easily the highest scoring outfit across Europe’s top divisions.

Although the visitors have naturally fared better on home soil, they’ve been very effective on the road too. With 27 goals to their name, Monaco are by far the highest scoring team when playing away from home in Ligue 1 this season. Their last five league fixtures on the road have yielded figures of 13 scored and three conceded.

They might not be a match for Monaco as far as goals scored are concerned (then again not many teams are at this moment in time) but Montpellier certainly haven’t been slouches in the goals department this season. Having scored 32, La Paillade are the fifth highest scorers in the division. While the hosts are a decent outfit going forward, their defending has left plenty to be desired and could easily be exploited by an attacking force such as Monaco. Having conceded 40 times this season, Montpellier are the not so proud owners of Ligue 1’s second worst defensive record.

With these two averaging 3.13 and 3.91 total goals per match, coupled with the fact that ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ has landed in 52% and 83% of their respective matches, it’s fair to say that high-scoring encounters are commonplace where both are concerned.

Everything points to the net being hit several times during this fixture so a match short on goals doesn’t seem likely. Although, with their superior quality (Bernando Silva and Falcao spring to mind), the visitors should have more than enough to come out on top and are worth backing to do just that.
