Dortmund will be looking to bounce back from their Champions League disappointment on Saturday evening, although if they are to do so they’ll need to up their defensive efforts against a Gladbach side who can certainly score goals.

On their day, there can be no doubting Dortmund’s quality but they once again showcased defensive weaknesses both last weekend and during the week so it seems that they’ve been a little bit overestimated ahead of this one. At the prices, the bet that really stands out is ‘Mönchengladbach to Score Over 1.5 Goals’.

In truth, it’s been something of an up and down campaign for Gladbach. The Rhineland club have had to endure both a managerial change and a number of injuries and, as a result, have been plagued by inconsistency. However, one thing that is for sure is the fact that they remain a team with plenty of attacking potential and can definitely score goals on their day, especially when afforded space to break into. Dieter Hecking’s side, although not the biggest-scorers, come into this match having found the net at least twice in both of their last two fixtures and should be feeling confident about getting at what looks to be a shaky Dortmund back-line.

Not only did Dortmund concede six (over two legs) against the well-oiled attacking machine that is AS Monaco, not to mention four against Bayern a few weeks back, but they’ve often fell down from a defensive point of view when playing away from home in the Bundesliga this season. Their total of 25 goals conceded in 15 away matches is not the best return, while they’ve conceded at least twice on eight occasions.

For all their attacking strength, they’re ertainly not the hardest team to score against and a Gladbach side who’ve been in good scoring form are expected to profit. What’s more, the visitors insist on playing an attacking game which should play directly into the hands of Hecking’s men.

Thomas Tuchel’s BVB may be the favourites here, and they may well come out on top, but it’s likely to be by out-scoring their opponents as opposed to grinding out a result. At the prices, backing the hosts to bag a couple of goals as they continue to tussle for a position inside the European spots is the way to go.
