Monday’s Premier League match is a contrast in styles as defensively orientated Middlesbrough take on the attacking talents of Arsenal.

Middlesbrough have not won a Premier League game in their last 14 attempts which leaves them down in 19th, six points off survival, and looking doomed.

Boro have been pretty strong at the back and have the fifth-best defensive record in the Premier League with 37 conceded in 31. However, they have been woeful going forward and are the division’s lowest scorers with a pathetic 22.

Home form has also been troublesome for Steve Agnew’s side and, not only have they failed to win a league game in their last six, they have scored just once in their last three at the Riverside.

Arsenal are in a relatively large crisis at the moment and currently sit down in 7th, nine points off the top four after a run of just one win in their last five league games.

As mentioned earlier, we all know how good Arsenal are going forward and they have found the back of the net 61 times this season. Their recent 3-0 loss against Crystal Palace was the first time the Gunners had failed to score in 20 matches. Defensively though, as shown by that 3-0 scoreline, there are huge questions and even Monday’s relegation-threatened opponents Middlesbrough have a better Goals Against record.

Arsene Wenger’s men are pretty decent on their travels compared to the rest of the league, however, in comparison the top sides, they do have the worst record with just 21 points accumulated in 15 matches. They have lost four of their last five matches on the road in all competitions and even that remainder was a win against non-league Sutton United in the FA Cup.

Although Arsenal are having a bad time at the moment, Middlesbrough are having an even worse one and thus this is the perfect opportunity for the visitors to bounce back. Boro may be tight at the back but, such is the pressure to get a win from this game, they could be left a bit open which the away side should exploit. ‘Arsenal to Win & Over 1.5 Goals’ is worth backing here.
