It is also worth noting that Medvedev had a tough match against Lorenzo Sonego in the first round. Russian played nine (!) match balls in the first set. Luckily, at the beginning of the second set, Lorenzo dropped the match because of a cramp.

On the other hand, Daniil easily defeated Miomir Kecmanovic (6-0, 6-3) and Karen Khachanov (6-3, 6-3), dropping only nine games in total.
