Last season’s fixture between these two at the Etihad finished in a 2-1 victory to the Hammers. Whilst West Ham are a good side, this match against a City side rejuvenated under Pep Guardiola will likely be much tougher for them.

The Citizens have won all of their matches so far this season and look a force to be reckoned with. They are currently top of the Premier League and even at this early stage of the season it looks like it will take a monumental effort for any side to clinch the title off of them.

Slaven Bilic was understandably angry as West Ham were knocked out of the Europa League qualifiers for a second year running by Romanian side Astra Giurgiu. It was a lifeless performance at the Olympic Stadium and they will have to be a lot better than that if they want to take anything away from Sunday’s fixture.

The Hammers have not made the best start to the Premier League campaign either and only managed to beat Bournemouth last weekend thanks to a last minute Michail Antonio winner. The Londoners made a good start to the campaign last year and that was the catalyst that propelled them to a good seventh place finish. The start has been relatively poor in comparison this time around so they may find it hard to match last season’s position.

It is ridiculously hard to find good odds on anything to do with Manchester City. The win is obviously not good value whilst even a usually reliable Win and Goals Over/Under is also poorly priced.

Sergio Aguero to score anytime is 1/2, such is the reliability of the Argentine. With this in mind, I have gone for another goalscorer at a better price. Summer signing Nolito has got his City career off to a fine start with three goals and one assist in four appearances.

The rate on the Spaniard to score anytime is pretty good at 11/10. However, I would also tip him to score last at 9/2. The 29-year-old was kept on the bench in last weekend’s victory against Stoke before coming on to seal the game for the Citizens and we may see a similar tactic from Guardiola this week.

A slightly odd bet that I have decided to go for is for a penalty to be awarded at 5/2. Referee Andre Marriner has given two penalties for Manchester City at home in recent times. Also, with City likely to be attacking for most of the match, we can expect a tired and clumsy challenge by a West Ham player at some point.
