Considering the fact that these clubs are two divisions apart in the Football League, the bookies have gone for surprisingly high odds on a Leeds win. This suggests that Luton will be a more than capable match for the Yorkshire side.

Luton did well in the previous round against Championship side Aston Villa and were well worth their 3-1 win. They have also started the League Two season well and currently sit in third position. The Hatters have been away from the higher echelons of English football for a long time and this could be the start of good things to come at Kenilworth Road.

New manager Garry Monk has had a mixed start to his Leeds United career. They lost their first two league matches against QPR and Birmingham as well as struggling to get passed League One Fleetwood Town in the previous round of the League Cup.

However, the Whites’ form has turned around in the last couple of matches. They have managed to gain a respectable draw at home to Fulham before beating promotion contenders Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 at Hillsborough. Whilst Leeds may only be 19th in the league, it could have been a lot worse if it were not for these two recent results.

The dilemma for Monk now is whether to keep that same team for this midweek cup clash or rest it and prioritise the league fixture against Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

League Two Luton have scored in every match so far and I certainly think there will be another attacking performance against Leeds. However, the Hatters have failed to keep a clean sheet since the opening day. With this in mind, Both Teams to Score at 4/5 looks to be a reliable option for punters.

In terms of a result I would back Luton. Although they lost their previous fixture, that victory against Aston Villa in the last round of the cup will give them the belief that they can beat any side. Although I felt Luton could beat Aston Villa, I was not brave enough to tip it in my previous tip – do not make the same mistake I did!

I am not sure how Garry Monk’s Leeds side will cope with the pressure of being favourites at Kenilworth Road and I can see them capitulating. It is worth noting that Leeds’ recent positive results have come in matches where they are the underdog. This match at Luton will have a totally different feel to it, something which I am not sure the Yorkshire side will handle well.

Luton to qualify is at Evens whilst the Hatters to win in 90 minutes is 21/10 if you are feeling more confident.
