Luton Town v Aston Villa Betting Tip
The early rounds of the League Cup are always capable of throwing up surprises. I am not sure we will see a complete shock here but I certainly feel that the underdogs can fare quite well.
Luton got their campaign off to a good start with an away victory at last seasons’ playoff semi-finalists Plymouth Argyle. This match against Villa is their first competitive home match of the season so the players should be up for it. Playing in front of a home crowd at Kenilworth Road should also help. Additionally, the pride gained in beating a giant club is a big carrot for these Luton players.
Their 3-0 win against Plymouth proved they are capable of scoring goals – something that will worry a potentially dodgy Villa defence.
The Villains are of course expected to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking so it will be interesting to see what sort of side Roberto di Matteo picks in this relatively low priority cup game.
Overall I am not sure how this game will pan out in the end but I imagine the Hatters will come flying out the blocks and look to score an early goal to shock Villa.
As previously mentioned, the Lions may pick a sub-par line up which could struggle and be overcome by the desire Luton will undoubtedly show.
Luton to win the first half is 17/5 and is well worth a bet.
