Both of these sides finished runners-up in their respective domestic leagues and clearly there is not too much difference between them on the European stage, as seen by their 0-0 draw in the first leg.

The side from the Bulgarian capital will be pleased to have come away from the first leg with a positive result, despite not managing to find an away goal. Levski know that they must win to go through as nothing else will do. With this being the case they are likely to approach the match with clear heads, rather than thinking about various permutations.

Maribor reached the group stages of either the Champions League or Europa League for four consecutive seasons from 2011 to 2014 so clearly have good European pedigree. However, coming up against a strong side like Levski Sofia this early in qualification meant they really needed to secure a home win in order to have good chance of going through – something they failed to do. Despite this, they know an away goal in Sofia could put the cat amongst the pigeons.

The bookies make the home side the favourites and it is easy to see why. They are at home, secured a good result in the first leg and are generally the stronger team. I believe that they will win but there is not great value in backing them at 5/6 so I have gone with ‘Both Teams To Score’ alongside a Levski win at 9/2. Maribor are likely to attack and will probably score that vital away goal but I think the Bulgarians will pick them off in the end.
