Johanna Konta v Belinda Bencic – Anna Chakvetadze’s Betting Tip
Despite the fact that Johanna Konta is considered the favorite for this match, I would still back Belinda Bencic. The Brit was able to recover miraculously after she suffered an on-court collapse during her match with Pironkova. Some say it was heat stroke whilst others say it was a panic attack. Either way it is extraordinary that she still managed to win in spite of the collapse. Will she be able to produce her best form here having seemingly dug so deep to win under much strain last time out? I’m not convinced.
These two players play in a very similar manner and, in terms of speed, both are below average. Konta will be quite uncomfortable here as she likes to play somebody who is very active on the court. However, Belinda Bencic will change the tempo and is capable of coming up with ways of frustrating opponents.
Most importantly Bencic is fresh and not carrying any niggles whereas Konta is unlikely to be in perfect shape after her collapse. On this basis it is very hard to oppose Bencic, thus backing her to win is the best bet.
