HŠK Zrinjski Mostar v Legia Warsaw: Thomas Giles’ betting tip
Some objections to the Champion’s League format and the extension of the competition is that it is full of teams who are not champions of their own country. However, in this second qualification round we have two European league champions. These are HŠK Zrinjski Mostar from Bosnia & Herzegovina and Legia Warsaw from Poland.
Zrinjski are the only team based in the once war-torn Mostar and have been champions of Bosnia for two of the last three seasons. Their 2015/16 title glory means that this match against Legia Warsaw is their first match in the Champions League.
Legia Warsaw were very impressive in their Ekstraklasa title win, winning 17 games and scoring 58 goals under the guidance of the now former coach Stanislav Cherchesov. Cherchesov has been linked with the vacant Russian national team manager’s job after his good season at Legia and it is up to Albanian Besnik Hasi to carry on the former Dinamo Moscow manager’s good work.
You would expect Legia to win comfortably but, as per usual with these sort of matches, there is little value in backing them for a simple win. However, Legia to win both halves is 2/1 with BetVictor.
