Hertha vs Bochum Predictions

Bookmaker Ratings prediction one: Draw No Bet – Bochum – 2.3

Bookmaker Ratings prediction two: Total Goals – Over 2.5 Goals – 2.00

Bochum Draw No Bet

The visitors don’t have an appealing away record, winning just two out of ten, but those two victories did come away against bottom-half teams, while it is the visitors who arrive at this junction in better shape having picked up some positive results against a couple of half-decent sides of late. In contrast, Hertha have been struggling. The hosts continue to give more away than the visitors at that could be crucial. It is at least crucial from a betting point of view. For all they’re not great on the road, given Hertha’s poor form, Bochum deserve a bit more respect and thus a punt on the away draw no bet offers some value.

Over 2.5 Goals

There’s been no shortage of goals at Olympiastadion recently. Each of Hertha’s last two at home have contained five goals, while three or more have been scored in five of their last six at home. Throw in a distinct lack of clean sheets for both teams and a high-scoring game starts to appeal as being slightly more likely than the early odds suggest.

Preliminary review and match prediction for Hoffenheim vs Dortmund

Before last week’s break in play, Hertha had been struggling, winning none out of four, three of which they’ve lost. They can of course be forgiven for coming up short against the imperius league leaders, but home defeats to both Union Berlin and Koln aren’t as easy to justify.

One of Hertha’s biggest issues right now is a lack of defensive solidity. They shipped four against Bayern last time out, while they conceded three against Union prior to that. Friday’s hosts have now conceded ten goals in four games since the turn of the year. Defending has been something of a problem for the hosts at home in recent times. They’ve kept just one clean sheet in their last seven in front of their own fans, conceding a worrying total of 14 goals.

Unlike the hosts, the Bochum boys have been ticking along quite nicely. A 2-2 draw with FC Koln made it two games without defeat before the break, while they’ve now lost just one of their last four, two of which they’ve won, beating Wolfsburg and Mainz, both of whom sit in the same section of the Bundesliga as Hertha. Such form bodes well.

What doesn’t exactly bode well for the visitors is their record on the road, which is poor to say the least. Thomas Reis’ men have lost four of their last five away from home, losing eight out of ten since the start of the campaign. Such a record doesn’t exactly point towards success here, even if their hosts are out of sorts.

Safe bet

If you’re looking for a ‘safe’ option here, then take ‘Both Teams to Score’. Both teams have found the net in four of Hertha’s last five, as well as in each of their last four at home, not to mention six of their last seven at Olympiastadion. Moreover, the teams have kept just one clean sheet between them in their last eight fixtures combined.

Hertha Berlin vs Bochum Team News

Dedryck Boyata is out for Hertha, as is Rune Jarstein, who continues to struggle with a knee issue. The visitors have a few more absentees, with Danny Blum and Paul Grave still out long term. Anthony Lasilla is a fresh injury concern, while Erhan Masovic is expected to miss out due to illness.

Starting Line-ups

Hertha Berlin: Schwolow, Gechter, Klunter, Dardai, Pekarik, Tousart, Darida, Serdar, Mittelstadt, Belfoldil, Jovetic.

Bochum: Riemann, Stafylidis, Bella-Kotchap, Leitsch, Soares, Lowen, Osterhage, Rexhbecaj, Pantovic, Locadia, Holtmann.

Highlighted Player

Gerrit Holtmann

Bochum’s Gerritt Holtmann is one to watch. The forward comes into this fixture having scored an important goal last time out in the league, while he’s been a general source of creativity, producing three goals and three assists in 16 appearances this campaign. Against a wounded Hertha side, the in-form 26-year-old can do some damage.
