Only Hamilton have something to play for here as they need to ensure they better Inverness’s result in order stay out of the automatic relegation spot. However, even a win for Hamilton would not take them out of relegation danger as they would still be in the play-off spot.

Hamilton are on a terrible run at the worst time possible and their midweek loss against Ross County means that they have now lost their last four matches and, with Inverness having a bit of a revival last time out, Hamilton are now in real danger of going down.

Goals have been a massive problem for The Accies this campaign and they are the league’s lowest scorers having found the back of the net just 33 times in 37 league outings. However, they have improved on this aspect of their game lately with seven goals in their last six matches – although still not exactly an impressive statistic. Even though they do not have the worst defensive record in the division, Hamilton’s Goals Against record of 56 is still poor whilst their Goals Conceded Per Game average of 1.51 is quite a bit higher than the league average of 1.36.

Prior to their aforementioned losing run, Martin Canning’s men had been in fantastic form at home with no defeats in seven in all competitions, including a victory against second place Aberdeen. However, it is certainly worth mentioning that Hamilton have scored more than once in just one home game since 21st November.

Dundee surprisingly lost their last match at bottom side Inverness, however, the fact they won two and drew one of their three matches before that means they have ensured survival for another season.

Neil McCann’s men have been poor in both boxes throughout the campaign with just 38 goals scored and 58 conceded in 37 games – the fourth-worst and third-worst records in the division respectively. Although they had scored five goals in those aforementioned three matches, the fact they failed to score against the worst defence in the league on Wednesday night shows that they can often be impotent in the final third. Furthermore, in terms of the back-line, they have kept just one clean sheet in their last 17 in all competitions.

The two wins I mentioned in that unbeaten run of three for Dundee both came on their travels and so, strangely, the Dark Blues clearly have confidence when they play away from Dens Park these days. After just one point taken from their last two matches, both on home soil, Dundee will no doubt be relieved to be getting on the coach to another away game.

Hamilton are the favourites here, however, they have a lot of negative pressure on them going into this game as they have a lot to lose if they do not win. On the other hand, although some will say they’ll have their flip-flops on, Dundee have been brilliant on the road in the last couple of matches and could easily do well here. ‘Dundee Draw No Bet’, at 9/4, is worth taking advantage of – which is exactly what the visitors could do if the pressure on the hosts gets too much.
