Germany v Finland Betting Tip
This friendly is likely to be particularly dull and a German win is an inevitable result, however, there are a couple of good looking bets to be had.
World champions Germany had a rather disappointing Euros when so much more was expected of them. Despite this, coach Joachim Low has stayed loyal to that squad for the upcoming matches against Nordic opponents Finland and Norway.
Although he has been frozen out at Manchester United, Bastian Schweinsteiger will get an incredibly warm reception as he puts on a German shirt for the last time on Wednesday night. The 32-year-old has been a vital cog in Germany’s machine for years and should bow out in style against Finland.
The Finns have produced some good players over the years such as Mikael Forssell, Roman Eremenko and of course Jari Litmanen. However, as a squad they have never been able to match even the more average sides of European football. They have been given a very tough World Cup qualifying group and I believe only a miracle will see them come through that.
In terms of this match, manager Hans Backe does have in-form striker Teemu Pukki available who has been exceptional for Danish side Brondby in recent weeks. Although, whether the former Celtic man can cause a world class defence any problems remains to be seen.
Everything sways towards Germany in this match and you would be a bit foolish to back anything positive happening for Finland.
Firstly I have gone with Bastian Schweinsteiger to score any time at 2/1. I can just imagine the former Bayern Munich man having a fairytale ending to his international career – which he deserves. I imagine if the Germans are awarded a penalty, which seems likely given how much they will be attacking on Wednesday, Schweinsteiger will be taking it and I would expect him to slot it away.
It seems the bookies are thinking the same as me given the odds on that one. Definitely still worth a punt though!
After that I have gone for Germany to win both halves at 11/10 as well as a Germany win with over 3.5 goals total at 7/5.
Joachim Low’s side will have far too much for this Finland team and I cannot see the Germans having any trouble dispatching their opponents and envisage them scoring a few goals in the process.
