Two teams in contrasting form go head-to-head in the Bundesliga on Saturday evening as Frankfurt play host to Hamburg at the Commerzban-Arena.

Having occupied a place towards the head of the table for almost the entirety of the first half of the campaign, Frankfurt’s form has waned somewhat of late – the hosts now find themselves down to 6th and are without a win in five. On the other hand, Hamburg bounced back from a blip of their own by beating both Hertha Berlin and Mönchengladbach in their last two fixtures.

Although the visitors are undoubtedly in better form than their hosts, they’re not an easy team to trust from a defensive point of view. The two bets that stand out are ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ and ‘Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score’ at eye-catching odds of 7/5 and 7/4 respectively.

The hosts have been struggling defensively of late and are now without a clean sheet in five league matches – five matches that have all ended in defeat. On this basis, a Hamburg side who’re scoring a few more goals these days – eight in their last five matches – should be relishing this opportunity and can continue their scoring exploits. However, as touched on above, the visitors are by no means a sturdy defensive unit and, although not necessarily leaking goals at the rate that they were earlier in the campaign, if ever there was an opportunity for Frankfurt to re-find their scoring touch then this is probably it.

As far as goals go, ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ has landed in 55% of Frankfurt’s home matches and in 58% of Hamburg’s away matches. With these stats in mind, and the fact that neither are looking the strongest at the back, a price of 7/5 is worth taking advantage of.

It’s no secret that the visitors have found their feet from an attacking point of view lately; striker Bobby Wood is looking more and more a goal-scorer, while exciting winger Filip Kostić is starting to come into his own. However, although the visitors must be confident, they’ve kept just one clean sheet in their last five on the road, conceding at least three goals in three of those. Therefore, it would be a bit of a surprise if Frankfurt didn’t awake from their final-third slumber and do some damage of their own. You can certainly expect the home side to have a real go at what looks a very fragile back-line, that’s for sure.

Overall, there’s a number of reasons to feel upbeat about the scoring chances of both teams here and the pair are expected to play out a high-scoring match on Saturday evening.
