FC Sheriff Tiraspol v Hapoel Beer Sheva – Thomas Giles’ betting tip
The first leg of this qualifier was a high-scoring 3-2 win for the Israeli champions. Although this was obviously a blow to the side from Tiraspol the fact they managed to score two goals in a European away match will give them confidence.
Sheriff are the current champions of Moldova as well as having won another 13 titles since their foundation in 1997. In previous European fixtures they have recorded some surprisingly good results, most notably a 2-0 win against Dinamo Kiev in September 2010, showing their pedigree in continental football.
Hapoel won the Israeli title for the first time since 1976 last season ahead of usual suspects Maccabi Tel Aviv and Maccabi Haifa. Although they won the first leg of this tie, it will be interesting to see how they handle the pressure of going away to secure a result in Europe – something they have never done before.
Unfortunately for Hapoel, I believe their lack of experience could cost them here. If Sheriff manage to score an early goal then it puts even more pressure on the Israeli side, which could result in them cracking. Victory for the Moldovan side is 13/10 with Marathon Bet.
