FC Copenhagen v FC Nordsjælland Betting Tips

While the majority of European leagues are yet to start, the Danish top flight is already well underway. Saturday’s match-day three action sees league leaders, and reigning champions, FC Copenhagen play host to FC Nordsjælland.

With back-to-back 4-0 victories in their first two matches, the league’s big team have absolutely flown out of the traps, so to speak, this season. Whereas FC Nordsjælland started well with a 4-0 win of their own on the opening day, before being involved in another 4-0 scoreline last time out, although, unfortunately, they were on the wrong end of it this time as they crumbled in front of their own fans against Midtyjlland.

Copenhagen have been the dominant force in Danish football for some time and, regardless of who they play, it’s hard not to fancy them. Given FC Nordsjælland’s performance last weekend, Copenhagen, as the hosts, are the likely winners, but are far too short in the market. Having said this, there is still a bet to be had and although it’s not necessarily one that jumps off the page it still makes plenty of appeal.

Now, some people might be thinking that if Nordsjælland couldn’t score against Midtyjlland, then they are unlikely to be able to breach Copenhagen’s defence. But, if we look at the bigger picture then this might not be the case. Just like both of Copenhagen’s opponents this season did, Nordsjælland paid the opposing team far too much respect last Sunday and were punished for doing so. The visitors will also know that this is what both teams who’ve faced Copenhagen already this season have tried to do and it is fancied that they won’t make the same mistake.

The visitors are no stranger to scoring goals, they’ve scored in four of their last five on the road, and if they do more than simply get 11 men behind the ball in this game then they’ve got a good chance of finding the net. Copenhagen are a good side, but they will play high up the pitch from the start and there will inevitably be spaces left in behind which can be exploited by the visitors if they get their tactics right.

From a numbers point of view, in relation to the price on offer here, last seasons’ stats for these two match up quite favourably. Nordsjælland scored in 11 of their 16 away matches, while Copenhagen conceded in nine of their 17 home matches. The hosts were also involved in a both teams to score outcome in 53% of their home matches, while the visitors saw both teams hit the net in 50% of their away games. On average Copenhagen scored 2.53 goals at home and conceded 0.82. FC Nordsjælland scored on average 0.82 goals away from home and conceded on average 1.69.

Overall we’re looking at a game where the hosts are overwhelming favourites and, with the quality they’ve got, they should be capable of notching a few and it wouldn’t be all that surprising if they come out on top. However, it is fancied that, if they do, it will be without keeping a clean sheet.
