F91 Dudelange v FK Qarabag – Thomas Giles’ betting tip
The first leg of this qualifier went with the favourites as Qarabag came out 2-0 winners at home to F91 Dudelange of Luxembourg meaning this tie is arguably already over.
F91 Dudelange, formed thanks to a merger of three clubs from the town of Dudelange in 1991, have won their domestic championship an impressive 12 times but are still some way behind Jeunesse Esch’s record of 28. Being from such a small league, Dino Toppmöller’s men really needed to secure a positive result in the first leg to have any hope of qualifying for the next round. Despite the fact they failed to secure a good result, they will take confidence from Lincoln Red Imps’ shock victory over Celtic last week which showed that everything is possible in football.
Qarabag became only the second Azeri side to qualify for the Group Stage of a European competition in last season’s Europa League and will be looking to push even further this season. However, I do not see them qualifying for the group stages of the Champions League but another Europa League group stage appearance is certainly not out of the question.
You have to go with the favourites Qarabag here, they will have learned a lot from last season’s Europa League campaign and I believe their superior ‘big game’ experience will see them through here. Although 1/1 isn’t the biggest price, this one looks somewhat of a banker and is well worth being on.
