Dijon v Metz Betting Tips

Metz travel to take on Dijon in Ligue 1 this Saturday night as two of the newly promoted sides go head-to-head for the first time since emerging from the second tier of French football just a few months ago.

A fixture between two newly promoted teams in France’s Ligue 1 probably won’t catch the eye of too many punters this weekend, what with numerous games taking place in the Premier League, La Liga etc, but there’s a bet to be had here and thus this is definitely a game to follow on Saturday evening.

In actual fact there are three bets to go for in this fixture. First of which is ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ at odds of 5/4. Three of the last five Dijon games have seen three or more goals go in, while Metz have seen at least three goals hit the net in four of their last five. 5/4, considering that ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ has landed in seven of their last ten games combined, is simply too big a price and is not to be missed.

Additionally, both teams are fancied to score in this fixture. Even though there is a disparity in the table (Metz sitting much higher than their opponents) both of these two are likely to see this as a winnable game and thus we could see an attacking encounter. The fact that both of this pair tend to try and play on the front foot when playing against sides of a similar standing is also an encouraging factor. Of the two it is probably Dijon who are more adept to playing a possession game and they are fancied to try and control this one on the front foot. In doing so, they should be capable of seriously threatening the Metz back-line. At the same time, though, Metz certainly won’t go without chances of their own and, given that they’ve scored five goals in their last two matches, it would be very surprising if they weren’t to get on the score-sheet at least once in this fixture.

Thirdly, the combination of the two bets discussed above, ‘Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score’, is well worth a go at 13/8.

The recent record between these teams reads pretty well in relation to the three bets opted for here. Four of the last five renewals (all of which came in the last two years) saw at least three match goals go in, while both teams scored in three of those five. This trend is fancied to continue as the two teams now come together in top-flight action and goals look very much on the menu in the Burgundy region on Saturday night.
