In my Group D preview I wrote that the Czech’s would really struggle in this group and that Turkey could do well, however, the reverse has happened. Jan Kozak’s side pulled off a fantastic comeback against Croatia last time out and look a decent team despite not winning a match yet. The Turks on the other hand look like a complete shambles with star players such as Arda Turan being hauled off the pitch after shocking performances. Rumours are now circulating that the Barcelona man could retire from international duty.

If the Czech Republic beat this very poor-looking Turkish side, they have a good chance of going through as a best third placed team with four points. Whilst many disagree with UEFA’s expansion of the Euros, the qualification of third place teams makes the last group games much more relevant and dramatic, which can only be a good thing.

As previously mentioned, Turkey look like a group of individuals rather than a team – and poor individuals at that. The Czechs have actually been made favourites for this game – an event that not many foresaw at the outset of the tournaments so with that in mind I would back them for a straight win. 13/10 still gives you a healthy return.
