Chelsea v Peterborough Betting Tips: Blues to bounce back by dominating League One side
This FA Cup tie sees Chelsea, top of the English football pyramid, take on Peterborough United of League One.
Chelsea saw their 13-match winning streak ended by Tottenham Hotspur in midweek as they lost 2-0 at White Hart Lane. However, this result now arguably takes the pressure off them as they no longer have that monkey on their back whilst they are still five points clear of 2nd place Liverpool.
A team on such an incredible run generally has incredible attributes all over the pitch, however, their loss at Spurs proved that they can be broken down and stopped in their tracks. Having said that, I doubt Peterborough United can do a similar job to Tottenham on Saturday.
The Blues have been excellent at home this season and have won their last seven league matches at Stamford Bridge.
I imagine Antonio Conte will rotate his squad for the visit of Peterborough but I also think the FA Cup is a competition he will take very seriously given his team’s lack of European football.
Peterborough are currently eighth in League One, just two points off the play-off places having not lost in any of their last five league matches. However, three consecutive draws in recent weeks means they are in a slight rut at the moment.
The Posh are one of the more entertaining sides in the third tier with their matches involving plenty of goals – an impressive 38 for, whilst their record of 26 against in 24 and no clean sheet in three shows they are not the best defensively.
Grant McCann’s side are pretty decent on the road with no loss since 15th October. However, going up against Chelsea is a completely different prospect.
With Chelsea likely to prioritise this competition I think they will do a comfortable job over Peterborough and score a few goals in the process given The Posh’s dodgy defence. Even a rotated Blue side should be scoring plenty here and the bet to go for is ‘Chelsea to Score Over 3.5 Goals’ at what looks a very generous 21/10.
