Chelsea – Porto. Laure James’ prediction
Jose Mourinho will be able to select from a fully fit Chelsea squad on Wednesday night, Radamel Falcao aside. The Portuguese coach is likely to play Eden Hazard as his number 10, but he is without a goal in 25 club games.
We definitely expect Diego Costa to start and hope to add to his tally of seven goals stretching back to January. The carrot for Chelsea is a win will see them finish top of the group, while a draw is enough to finish second. Porto need to win to guarantee they progress, and against a side lacking in mental strength, there is a real chance of success.
Julen Lopetegui’s men are bullish, physical, intimidating – none of the characteristics a psychologically fragmented Chelsea team have fared particularly well against this season. I would definitely recommend plumping for odds which favour Porto, but I can’t see Chelsea letting a place in the last 16 away from them. 1-1 draw, with William Hill, is available at a tasty 6/1.
