With Charlton Athletic set to finish in mid-table and Swindon Town already relegated to League Two, there is absolutely nothing riding on this game so hopefully we will see a bit of an open affair.

Charlton are on an excellent run at the moment with three wins and one draw in their last four matches – fantastic momentum to be taking into next season.

After failing to score in three consecutive matches back from mid-March to early April, the Addicks have now found their shooting boots, scoring seven goals in their last four. Having said that, their defence has been easily penetrated in recent months, as demonstrated by the fact they have kept just one clean sheet in their last 19 matches in all competitions.

Karl Robinson’s side have been on a good run at home in recent times with just one loss in their last six matches and two wins in their last two at The Valley. Charlton will of course want to send their home fans happy for the summer on Sunday as they look at a promotion push next year.

Swindon Town’s official website seemingly took a while to realise that the club had been relegated following their loss at home to Scunthorpe United on Saturday with no mention of it in their post-match report. However, the realisation should now have set in and so it will be interesting to see how the visiting team approach this match.

Unsurprisingly for a team already-relegated, Luke Williams’ men have been poor in both boxes with just 44 scored and 63 conceded in 45 matches. That Goals For statistic in particular does not look like improving any time soon with Williams’ side having found the back of the net just once in their last three games.

Apart from a few wins dotted here and there, The Robins have had a tough time on the road of late with seven losses in their last nine away matches. Away clean sheets have been a massive problem for Swindon this campaign with just three from 22 matches – the third-worst in the league – whilst they have also kept just one clean sheet in their last 17 away from The County Ground.

With Charlton in such good form and Swindon going out there with no pressure to win or not lose, I think we could be in for an entertaining match. I expect Swindon to take the shackles off a bit for this match which means, combined with Charlton’s goal-scoring record of late as well as poor clean sheet record, we should see a few goals. A simple ‘Over 2.5 Goals’ bet should do the trick here.
