Neither of these sides have nothing to play for in this final game with Burton having survived in their maiden Championship season and Reading having secured their place in the play-offs.

Burton have had a good final few games of the season with two wins and a draw in their last three matches, ensuring that they’re now four points clear of the drop-zone with just the one game to go. This match against Reading represents a chance for the team to give the fans a entertaining end to this successful season.

The Brewers have based their survival mission on having a solid back-line which has conceded a relatively low 59 goals in 45 matches – the second-lowest in the bottom eight. Fortunately, Burton found their shooting boots at just the right time having found the back of the net five times in their last three games.

After losing five matches on the spin at home, Nigel Clough’s have recovered at the business end of the season with just two losses in their last eight. However, it must also be mentioned that Burton have conceded nine goals in their last four games at the Pirelli Stadium.

Reading have secured their spot in the upcoming play-offs and have indeed been in the top six for most of the season. They also have great momentum going into those vital matches with six wins from their last eight.

Jaap Stam’s side have been very good going forward this campaign with 64 goals scored in 45 matches overall – the second most in of all the playoff sides. Furthermore, they have found the back of the net in each of their last eight matches. Unfortunately for them though, this attacking style that Reading have implemented means that they have been very open at the back and their record of 62 conceded is by far the worst in the top six. Additionally, their recent clean sheet against Wigan was their first in five games.

Home form has been the Royals’ foundations this season whilst their away form has been pretty poor. Their points haul of 29 on their travels is the worst in the top six whilst they have also lost five of their last seven away from the Madejski Stadium.

With Reading preparing for the play-offs, it would not surprise me if they rested several key players here. Furthermore, given their away from and Burton’s good record at home in recent times, the Brewers are worth backing to come out on top and send their fans home happy for the summer.
