Top-3 Predictions for Australia vs Vietnam
Bookmaker Ratings prediction one: Australia Win or Draw and Over 2.5 Goals – 1.55
Bookmaker Ratings prediction two: Both Teams To Score No – 1.57
Bookmaker Ratings prediction three: Australia -1 Goals Handicap – 1.52
Australia Win or Draw and Over 2.5 Goals
Australia are in a must-win situation against a Vietnam team who has zero points from six matches. The Socceroos have won six of their last seven games at home in the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers. Five of their last seven matches at home in the WCQ saw over 2.5 goals.
Both Teams To Score No
In Australia’s three of the last four matches both teams didn’t score. Also, the Aussies had five clean sheets in their last seven home games. Vietnam meanwhile have not scored against any of the top three teams and failed to score in three of their last five games.
Australia -1 Goals Handicap
Few will doubt a team of Australia’s caliber not to beat Vietnam by more than one goal. At home and against low-ranked teams, the Socceroos beat their oppositions by three goals or more in five of their last seven games. With the score difference being the tiebreaker in case of equal points between two teams, the Aussies must score as many goals as possible.

Preliminary review and match prediction for Australia vs Vietnam
Two points from their last three games is not a healthy form for Australia as they drew with China and Saudi Arabia and lost to Japan. Hence it is important for the Aussies to get back to winning ways since clearly, they can’t afford to lose any points in this game.
Coach Arnold Graham has some tactical issues to deal with before this game. Scoring two goals in their last three matches must raise concerns for Graham as his offense needs to be at its best against an expected compact Vietnamese defense.
The offensive ineffectiveness was obvious in Australia’s last match against China when the Aussie attack scored just once from their five shots on goal. However, Graham will rely on the likes of Tom Rogic who is in hot form for Celtic. The Aussie coach has urged his players to be in a Siege mentality as they have to get maximum marks from their remaining four games.
In the previous second phase, Vietnam finished second in Group G behind the UAE with 17 points. That was a very successful result by the Golden Star Warriors as they secured their place in the final phase of the World Cup Qualification.
However, Vietnam couldn’t handle the strong teams in the third stage as we can see from their results when they lost all of their six matches so far. As a result, Vietnam lost any realistic chance of challenging for a place in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
Quick Rich
Australia scored three exact goals in three of their last six games at home. If Arnold Graham’s men score early in the match, then they have the chance to break down Vietnam’s defense more than once. With odds of 3.83 for the Socceroos to score three goals in this match, it seems like a good bet to back for a quick profit.
Australia vs Vietnam first goalscorer
Mitchell Duke scored twice in Australia’s last three WCQ matches. Duke who plays his club football in Japan is very familiar with Asian football and is our pick to be the first goalscorer in this match as he was against China in the previous round.
There’s another tennis tournament going on in Melbourne this week ?
And it turns out @MartinBoyle9 & @MitchDuke8 aren’t the greatest doubles partners!

Australia vs Vietnam team news
Graham Arnold will miss one of the most influential players in midfield Ajdin Hrustic who plays for Eintracht Frankfurt due to accumulated yellow cards. Awer Mabil is omitted from the squad by Arnold for lack of football with his Danish team Midtjylland. Defenders Callum Eder and Harry Souttar are sidelined due to injury.
Vietnam coach Toshiya Miura has a fully fit squad to choose from for the trip to Melbourne. Surely the Japanese will rely on his best defensive players to close the doors to the Vietnamese goal in the face of the Aussies.
