Athletic Bilbao – Atletico Madrid. Valeri Karpin’s prediction
This seems as though it will surely be a tough game for Atletico Madrid, because everyone has trouble, at least in some form, when visiting San Mames. And considering that the team from Bilbao are now motivated by the fight for Europa League qualification this definitely won’t be easy for the visitors.
Bilbao aren’t the only ones playing for something, Atletico Madrid also need three points. Considering that Barcelona have lost some points in recent games, Diego Simeone’s team are all of sudden right back in the title race. So they need to win here, and I expect them to do so.
It’s fair to say that the guests are the stronger team, and, overall, they boast a better class of player. The last two times these teams met at this venue the score was 4:1 (2014/15) and 2:1 (2013/14) to Atletico Madrid, so coming away from San Mames with all three points is something that Atletico are more than familiar with.
