Anzhi Makhachkala – Volgar Astrakhan. Thomas Giles prediction
The first leg of this promotion/relegation playoff was a lot closer than predicted. Matches involving both of these sides tend to involve a view goals so it was surprising that the game was 0-0 until Anzhi’s Yannick Boli struck a 90th minute winner away at their Astrakhan based opponents. The side from Dagestan will now be confident that they can seal the tie in their home leg. However, this of course means that Volgar have absolutely nothing to lose.
As stated earlier, fixtures involving these two sides are likely to be full of goals as, whilst they are both decent at going forward, they are incredibly suspect at the back. This game should be a lot less conservative than the first leg as Volgar are likely to go for the jugular due to the fact that anything other than a win sees them stay in the FNL next season.
If Volgar do attack then you would expect Anzhi with their quick forward line, particularly Yannick Boli, to exploit the space in behind their opponents defence.
I cannot call a result on this as it could really go either way but I fancy an attacking game so both teams to score and over 2.5 goals (a 2-1 win would be covered) at 9/5 seems a good bet.
