Alavés v Alcorcón Betting Tips: Similar outcome on the cards in second-leg

Jan 23 2017

Having secured a 2-0 victory away from home in the first-leg, Alavés have one foot firmly in the semi-final and will no doubt fancy their chances of finishing the job when welcoming Alcorcón to Mendizorrotza on Tuesday night.

The first-leg between these two panned out much as expected – the hosts were by no means terrible, but they were second best for most of the contest and deserved to lose. Having said that, the manner in which they lost (two goals inside the last five minutes) was probably a tad harsh.

You’d have to fear for the second division side ahead of this return-leg. Alcorcón are tasked with chasing the game against an astute La Liga side who should have no problem in picking them off.

At the prices, there are two bets that really stand out. ‘Alavés to Win’ and ‘Alavés to Score Over 1.5 Goals’ are both worth being on ahead of this one. Even with plenty of changes made for the first-leg, the basque side showed their quality before running out deserved winners. Back in front of their own fans this time, they’re fancied to prove too strong once again.

Not only are Mauricio Pellegrino’s Alavés a good side at home – unbeaten in their last five at Mendizorrotza – but the visitors have struggled somewhat on the road this season. Having played away from home on 12 occasions in the segunda división, Alcorcón have recorded just one victory, drawing two and losing the other nine. Such form doesn’t exactly bode well ahead of this fixture and it’s hard to see anything changing against a very capable La Liga outfit.

If Alcorcón’s win/draw/loss stats on the road were bad, then their goal stats certainly don’t make for better reading. The visitors have kept just one clean sheet when playing away from home in their own division this season and have failed to score on no less than eight occasions. Things certainly aren’t looking good for them here.

In all honesty, Alavés really do have a quilt-edged opportunity to make it through to the semi-finals here. The fact that the visiting team have to come out and play should only aid the chances of Pellegrino’s men here, who, in front of a home crowd, are fancied to come out on top having scored a couple of goals in the process.
