What Mikel Arteta said about Arsenal being five points clear of Manchester City
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said it’s great to be five points clear of Manchester City following their comfortable win over Wolves on Saturday night in the Premier League.
Man City lost the chance to go to the summit on Saturday lunchtime when they succumbed to a heartbreaking 2-1 defeat to Brentford at the Etihad Stadium.
Arsenal capitalised Manchester City‘s blip and emerged victorious at the Molinuex Stadium when they beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 to go five points clear of Pep Guardiola’s men.
Although it’s only 14 matches in, in the Premier League, the Gunners are now being described as one of the favourites to lift the title this season.
Despite being comfortable at the summit, Arteta claims that his aim as Arsenal boss to to try and make his players maintain their unity and play as a team in every matchday.
When asked whether being five points clear at the top after 14 games is important, the Arsenal boss told Arsenal’s official website: “It’s great to be where we are. We are enjoying that moment, and we have a big break.
“We have to reflect on what we are doing, and be very much prepared for what is going to come after the World Cup.
“But, our aim is to play better as a team every single day; to have better tools to do what we want to do on that pitch. I can say that it has been phenomenal to work with these players and staff.”
