The main sporting events for winter 2020/2021

Despite the difficult situation with COVID-19, sportinglife on the planet continues. Many interesting events await us this winter.

In winter, winter sports are especially popular.  We are waiting for the stages of the World Cup, as well as the world championships in biathlon, cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, bobsleigh, skeleton, figure skating and other winter sports.

Let’s analyze them by dates and by sports.

December 22-27.  Russian Figure Skating Championship (Chelyabinsk)
January 1-10.  Ski race “Tour de Ski” in Val Mustair (Switzerland), Toblach (Italy) and Val Di Fiemme (Italy)
January 29-31.  Luge World Championship (Königssee, Germany)
February 5-14.  World Bobsleigh and Skeleton Championships (Altenberg, Germany)
February 8-21.  Alpine Ski World Championships (Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy)
February 11-21.  Biathlon World Championships (Pokljuka, Slovenia)
February 23 – March 7.  World Ski Championships (Obersdorf, Germany)

Hockey

Hockey also continues.  The KHL is in full swing, the NHL will start soon, and the youth world ice hockey championship will take place, in which the Russian national team will take part.

December 25 – January 6.  World Youth Hockey Championship (Edmonton, Canada)
January 13.  National Hockey League start

Also, competitions in other team sports continue.  National and European basketball, volleyball and handball tournaments continue.

December 22.  NBA start (USA)
January 14-31.  World Handball Championship (Egypt)

CL/2020

As for football, games continue in all top European championships, and in February we should expect the return of the Russian championship.

February 13.  14th round of the Ukrainian championship
February 16.  Start of 1/8 finals of the Champions League
February 18.  Start of 1/16 finals of the Europa League
February 28th. 20th round of the Russian Championship

Conor McGregor

In addition, in January and February, we will have fights with the participation of Conor McGregor, Petr Yan, Alexey Oleinik and other famous MMA fighters.
