Sergio Aguero Makes Difficult Confession On Erling Haaland

Following his blistering start to the season, Manchester City icon Sergio Aguero has picked Erling Haaland to break multiple goalscoring records and set new ones with the club.

In just 21 appearances in all competitions, the Norwegian forward has scored 27 goals and three assists following his goal against Everton in the draw. On Wednesday, a brace saw the 22-year-old became the fastest player in Premier League history to score 20 Premier League goals with just 14 games.

Haaland has been in superb form for Pep Guardiola’s side since joining from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window. A form which has gotten the club legend, Aguero, to believe that the City ace will outperform his goal tally if he stays in the club.

Aguero, who scored 260 goals at City, believes Haaland’s adaption to the Premier League’s high intensity needs special mention. When asked about the new Manchester City star, he said:

“I think that if he’s consistent, and if he sticks with City, anything is possible, Hopefully that’s the case because it would mean City will achieve great new things. Look at the stats right now, he has scored 18 Premier League goals in the first stage of the league, and the highest in a single season is 34.”

“If he keeps at it, he’ll surely be able to clear this mark. I think Haaland is maintaining form with his performance in other clubs and that form is all about scoring. His stats are really remarkable. He’s kept his stride for City and there’s an additional merit to being able to do it in the Premier League, which is a whole different type of game. And on his first season as well!” he added.

The legend believes that Haaland’s unique blend of athletic ability and physical power tubes him an advantage over defenders and allows him to score while never losing sight of the goalposts.

The Argentine also stated that Haaland’s outstanding physical abilities have assisted the 22-year-old attacker in taking the Blues’ play to a new level under Guardiola who has lacked a clinical finisher since his departure.

Aguero had won five Premier League titles, six EFL Cups, and an FA Cup during his time at the Etihad Stadium. He stated from experience that a team like City is well-suited to help Haaland break many goalscoring records.
