Ahead of Manchester City’s crucial title showdown with Arsenal in less than two weeks, manager Pep Guardiola has admitted that he is uncertain about when Phil Foden will return to action.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed uncertainty over the return of midfielder Phil Foden ahead of the team’s upcoming title clash against Arsenal. The 22-year-old has been sidelined for the last four matches in all competitions for City and England, following his appendix surgery during the international break.

Foden, who had been in fine form before going under the knife, scoring four goals and registering two assists in six appearances across all competitions, underwent surgery in London and has been recuperating at home since.

Guardiola revealed in a recent interview with City Xtra that he had spoken with the midfielder’s doctor three days ago and was informed that Foden was feeling better, but he is not yet ready to return to action.

“He is) At home. I don’t know. I think he will be back to the training centre to be with the doctors. I think he feels better. I spoke with the doctor three days ago and he feels better. But still he’s not ready.”

The Spanish tactician went on to say that Foden was expected to return to the training center to continue receiving medical attention.

However, Guardiola remained unsure about when the youngster would be fit to play again, stating that the club would announce his return through their social media channels once he begins training with the team.

“I don’t know (when we will have him available). We he starts to train you will know it, from our social media, I think so. After that he will be closer to coming back, but still he cannot train with us.”

Despite Foden’s absence, Manchester City will be hoping to maintain their title charge when they take on a struggling Leicester City side at the Etihad this weekend as they look to close the gap on Arsenal.
