Manchester City Prospect Esbrand Complete Loan Move
The young left-back who recently returned to action with the Under-21s after spending some time on the sidelines following his promotion to the senior team has just joined Coventry on loan for the remainder of the season.
The 20-year-old Wilson-Esbrand has continued to dazzle Pep Guardiola since first catching their attention last season. The young player was given the chance to make his first-team debut last season when the back five consisted entirely of teenagers against Wycombe in the Carabao Cup.
Following that up this season was a Champions League debut against Copenhagen and additional playing time against Sevilla, the young player has been able to draw interest from teams willing to give him more playing time.
Coventry City, who overcame a rocky start in the Championship to currently sit in mid-table after just one loss in their last five games, has welcomed him to the team.
Wilson-Esbrand has chosen to temporarily leave the Etihad in order to experience regular first-team football as Nathan Ake, Aymeric Laporte, and Rico Lewis can all provide competition and cover for Joao Cancelo at left-back.
Morgan Rogers, a City winger who last week joined Blackpool on loan, also made a similar switch. Wilson-Esbrand will now join Coventry for the second half of the season and stay there while the Blues keep an eye on him.
Etihad are however anticipating a quiet transfer window with no first-team recruitment planned as the club’s purchases in the summer are considered enough bolster to their roster for the rest of the season.
