Liverpool Suffers Major Setback as Key Forward is Ruled Out of Clash Against Arsenal
Liverpool Manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Colombian attacker Luis Diaz will not feature in the upcoming clash against Arsenal.
Speaking to reporters, Klopp stated that Liverpool is taking a cautious approach to Diaz’s return to the pitch, in order to avoid aggravating his injury.
“The plan with Luis is that he will be available 100% for Leeds,” Klopp said. “It looks good, everything is fine but it was a long, long injury so we have to be careful. We will probably not involve him for Sunday.”
Diaz’s absence will come as a blow to Liverpool, as the 24-year-old has been in fine form this season. The Colombian has scored 4 goals in 6 appearances in the Premier League, and has been instrumental in Liverpool’s attacking play.
However, Klopp will be boosted by the return of defender Virgil Van Dijk, who missed Liverpool’s last match against Chelsea. Additionally, veteran midfielder Thiago Alcantara could also be available for selection.
“Thiago has trained now three times, three or four times with the team. He might be available but we have to check how he feels [on Friday],” Klopp stated.
Liverpool will be looking to continue their fine run at home against Arsenal , as they take on the League leaders.
